Nature Notes!







I saw this patch of purple coneflowers, or echinacea, next to my brother's office one day. I ran over and snapped these photos with my IPhone. The bees were so intent, that they let me hold the phone just a few inches away from them to get these shots!

I have always been interested in echinacea because, as many of you probably know, it is reported to have medicinal benefits.

I have prepared this post so as to participate in Nature Notes over at RamblingWoods.com. This is a really fun weekly meme where we 'show and tell' about what nature is up to in our neck of the woods!

    Oh, I love echinacea. They never seem to live long in my yard, though. I tried sprinkling some seeds from someone else's yard last fall, but no luck.

      Thanks Leora! These are someone else's flowers - I slid over and took the photos(!) so I don't know a thing about growing them :/

    Wonderful shots of the echinacea. It looks a lot better than mine does. I guess that's the price I pay for not watering during the heat wave. Naturally we had plenty of rain until the temperatures got so high and we needed it.

    Oh I love these and have several plants..beautiful color and an insect magnet..I love that you included the bees..can't see if they are bumble or carpenter..but I love them...Michelle
