I took these pictures near downtown Tampa around the end of February 2012. The fuschia is Bougainvillea. The wierd orange pod with the bright red seeds inside is a weed(!) that was growing on a vine in and around the bougainvillea. The orange flowers are birds of paradise.

ReplyDeleteYour pictures are great. It would be nice to live in a place where you can see these flowers in the Winter!
ReplyDeleteFortunate to have flowers all year 'round. Endless summer indeed. Your haiku brings us great thoughts and colorful images with or without the photos.

Oh wow, you have 'birds of paradise' growing outside? It's one of my faves, and here in the Netherlands you can only buy them in flowerstores (and they are expensive!) I'm getting jealous here... (we do have tulips growing though *teehee* ) Love your haiku!
ReplyDeleteI think every place has its own unique charms. Also I need to do a whole photo spread on the white bird of paradise. The plant itself is so cool because the fronds grow in a pattern that looks like a fishtail braid.
